Throughout the year, I will be putting some fun things we are working on in class here, for you to see at home.
Girl Playing MM PieceThis is a 7-year-old girl performing the "Minute Waltz" by Chopin...simply amazing!
Peer Gynt Suite No.1This is part of Peer Gynt Suite that we did not listen to this year...you might recognize some of it!
Mario Music...What?I have never seen this! Someone used the Advanced Mario Sequencer and put together the music of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by ear. Pretty cool!
Tom and Jerry FigaroUsing some music from The Marriage of Figaro, here is Tom and Jerry with a small taste of the fabulous music by Mozart!
Animaniacs BeethovenThis is a great silly cartoon about the wonderful Ludwig van Beethoven. This cartoon is creative because it is a suggestion as to how Beethoven came up with one of his most famous masterpiece, Symphony No. 5. Also, he had completely lost his hearing in real life by the time he created this. Enjoy!
Rabbit of SevilleWe studied the aria "Zitti, zitti, piano, piano" from The Barber of Seville by Rossini this year. This is a funny clip from Looney Tunes where Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd give you their own 7 minute rendition of the opera. You might recognize some of the melodies inside this fun little cartoon.
Prokofiev's BalletHere is a great example of ballet that we listened to the music for this year. What an amazing and powerful piece of music. This is the choreography for "Dance of the Knights" from the ballet Romeo and Juliet done by Ballet de l'Opera National de Paris.
What is a Virtual Choir? This is an amazing film I found a couple of years back. Eric Whitacre is a very complex, contemporary choral composer and he tried this virutual choir. The result, I think, is just incredible!
The Can-Can...Yay!A classic by the Biscuit Brothers...The Can Can! I love the Crazy Classics of this program (normally shown on PBS). The Brothers are from Austin, TX and I love how they create silly versions of classical pieces of music, similar to what the Muppet Show used to do.
